Our high-quality curriculum and resources are underpinned by our Quality Framework:
Curriculum-aligned - resources cover Australian and state content and standards.
Sequenced and mapped deliberately and coherently - presenting new materials incrementally, connecting new content to prior learning, and giving students ample opportunities to practice.
Knowledge and vocabulary rich - priority given to building detailed student knowledge and vocabulary.
Comprehensive and detailed - containing all key materials for teachers to teach a subject over a year, ready to use and adapt including embedded assessment.
Evidence-based teaching practices - reflect the growing evidence base for effective teaching practices, including explicit instruction, formative assessment and retrieval and spaced practice.
Include professional learning support - on how teachers can best adapt and use Ochre materials for their class and how curriculum leaders can lead implementation in their school.
Include scaffolding to support diverse learners - to meet diverse student needs.
Embed diversity - we have an unwavering commitment to breadth and diversity in all of our work.
Flexible - so that teachers and schools can use them in a way that fits their context and meets the varying needs of students.
Ochre lessons and resources have been designed to support teachers to effectively implement evidence-based practices as described AERO’s Teaching for how students learn: A model of learning and teaching.
All Ochre materials go through a thorough Quality Assurance process, in line with our detailed Quality Assurance framework.
We draw on our Quality Framework and the evidence-base about subject and phase instruction - as well as consulting with expert practicing teachers - to agree the initial design of our curriculum materials and instructional resources.
We aim to road-test all of our materials in schools as pilots, prior to developing curriculum and lesson content.
All of our curriculum materials are developed by carefully selected curriculum writers, who are experts in their area, and quality assured internally and externally.
We carefully select and train our team of Teacher Creators who develop materials with us. Each resource is checked for curriculum, pedagogy and content, to ensure consistency and quality. It is also checked for accuracy, errors and technical faults by a team of quality assurers. Our materials also receive external review.
Lastly our team encourages user feedback, and ongoing refinement and maintenance of our resources, especially when an error is flagged.
We have also recently piloted an independent quality review process, whereby a group of expert teachers review our materials against a detailed subject and phase specific framework. We will be continuing this work this year.
